Terms

How this site works. And what it doesn’t do.

These terms cover runcolony.com — the marketing site, the docs, and public pages like /built-by-colony/. They do not cover the Colony Cloud product or the Colony OSS distribution; those have their own agreements (see below).

Last updated . This document is a plain-language summary; the legally operative terms of service for runcolony.com are being finalized by counsel and will replace this page when they land. If you need the long version sooner for procurement, email [email protected].

Who you’re agreeing with.

The site is operated by Beehive Media, LLC (“Beehive,” “we,” “us”). By using runcolony.com, you agree to these terms. If you don’t, stop using the site.

What this page is — and what it isn’t.

This page covers visitor use of the public site. Three things it explicitly does not cover:

  • Colony Cloud — the managed product. Cloud terms are presented at sign-up and embedded in the Master Services Agreement signed at the start of a pilot. Nothing on this site overrides those terms.
  • Colony OSS — the open-source distribution at github.com/RunColony/colony (and related repos under the RunColony org). The OSS license is GNU AGPL-3.0-only, set out in the LICENSE file in each repository. The license file governs the OSS, not this page. See OSS vs Cloud for the practical distinction.
  • Pilot engagements — contracted under a separate work-for-hire MSA + SOW; code we produce in a pilot is yours under that agreement, not under these terms.

What you can do here.

Read the pages. Follow the links. Submit the pilot form. Quote and link to anything published here (no separate permission required). Embed our charts and screenshots in your evaluation deck. Cite the public stats at /built-by-colony/ in your own writing.

What you can’t.

  • Scrape or load-test the public API endpoints (e.g. /api/public/dogfood/*) beyond the rate limits we publish. We’ll block on abuse.
  • Submit the pilot form with false information, or use it to send unsolicited messages.
  • Use the Colony name, logo, or trade dress in a way that suggests affiliation, endorsement, or partnership that doesn’t exist. Fair, factual reference (“we evaluated Colony alongside X”) is fine.
  • Republish the site’s text as if it were your own product’s marketing. (We notice; we ask once; we escalate if needed.)

Intellectual property.

Everything on the site — copy, illustrations, the brand mark, the design system — is owned by Beehive Media or used under license. The Colony OSS code is owned by Beehive Media and contributors; the relevant license file governs use, not this page. Nothing on the site grants you a license to either the brand or the OSS code beyond what those underlying terms allow.

No warranty on what’s on the site.

We work hard to keep this site accurate. We can’t guarantee everything is current, complete, or free of error. The information here is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. If you’re about to make a buying decision based on a specific claim on this site, ask us on the pilot call — we’ll confirm or correct in writing.

Limitation of liability.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Beehive Media is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of this site. Our total liability for any claim related to this site is limited to one hundred US dollars. Different and broader limits apply to paid engagements under their own MSAs.

Changes.

When we change these terms in a way that materially affects what visitors can do, we’ll update the “last updated” date and note it in the site changelog. Continued use of the site after that constitutes acceptance.

Governing law.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Disputes are resolved in the state or federal courts located in Johnson County, Kansas. (Cloud and pilot agreements may select different law; that’s spelled out in those agreements.)
